Responding to the Coronavirus
FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE ARCHBISHOPS OF CANTERBURY AND YORK PUBLIC WORSHIP HAS BEEN SUSPENDED AT ST ANNE’S UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
We have also, sadly, now taken the decision that we will not keep the church open all day for private prayer. The very small number of people on the streets of Soho, combined with the potential for a disproportionately high number of problematic visitors, together with a reduced staff presence means that for the safety of the building and Rector the building will not normally be open.
The only groups who will possibly keep meeting here are the 12-step meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays. If you attend a group here please check with the event organiser before coming.
But despite a reduction in our activities we’re still Soho’s Parish Church – a place of prayer and service to the Community.
The rector will say Morning and Evening Prayer in the chapel each weekday. Those on our mailing list will receive a weekly order of service which The Rector will be reading and praying in church at 11am, so they can join with him in prayer from the comfort and safety of their own homes. If you would like to receive this each week, and haven’t done so already, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list.
Our services have stopped but our service hasn’t. Several people have offered to help local people with shopping etc during this challenging time. If you need any assistance in the coming weeks please contact Fr Simon email@example.com or call 0207 437 1012. Together with the Parish Assistant he is operating a rota to phone weekly those who may be isolated or feel alone. If you know someone who would value a regular call, please let us know.
Psalm 46 begins with the words ‘God is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble’. May you trust that is God is present with you at this troubling time and through faith find hope and peace.
